For a quick and easy photo op, decorate or embellish your baby’s sonogram with pink or blue emoji, stickers etc. Don’t have any on hand? Just take a picture and add the props with free apps.
One popular idea is to use colored baby clothes. Arrange some pink or blue onesies on a clothesline or have your older kids hold them up! Alternatively, you and your partner can dress up from head to toe in the appropriate colors and snap a picture for friends and family.
Use props to make your picture memorable. Get small balls, sashes, ties, jewelry, hats, balloons, confetti or ribbons to announce the gender. For a more unique spin, decorate the items with your favorite TV show, the logo of your sports team or even video game characters!
Gender Revealing Food
Sometimes a picture just won’t do. Gather your friends and family around for a weekend meal and a big reveal. The main course? The answer to whether it’s a boy or girl.
Get a bakery to make a blue or pink cake and hide it with frosting. Cut it open to let the cat out of the bag! Or if you bake yourself, make some cupcakes with blue or pink frosting. Nothing is more adorable than small cupcakes.
Welcome your guests with some punch. Pink lemonade if it’s a girl or blue Hawaiian punch if it’s a boy. You won’t have to say a word!
It’s amazing how many food items you can color pink or blue. From cotton candy and ice cream to soda or punch, color them up and take a picture to reveal the big secret.
Gender Reveal Party Games
If you’re having a full-fledged gender reveal party, you need some creative games for the announcement.
Whether you are a fan of Harry Potter or Star Wars, there are fun ways to reveal the gender. Buy a pointy hat and hide a blue or pink onesie underneath. Gather everyone around and lift up the sorting hat to announce the ‘decision.’ Or get some blue/pink lightsaber props for the future Star Wars fan!
What’s more fun than a party? A piñata party! Fill up a piñata (or two) with blue or pink confetti and ask your guests to start smashing. You can also fill up a balloon with blue or pink paint. Hide it among other balloons filled with white paint. Stick them up on a board outside and give out some darts to your guests. Whoever bursts the gender reveal balloon wins a prize!

Ask your friends to guess the baby’s gender based on old wives tales. You’re sleeping on your left side? Maybe it’s a girl! Morning sickness in the evening? It’s a boy! Tally up the scores and announce the secret with a bang.
Set up a friendly competition between team pink and team blue. Hand out pins or other small items for each team. Create some silly questions like ‘were more boys or girls born in Alaska last year?’ Tally up the scores at the end to reveal the gender!
If you don’t mind getting messy, you can use paint guns, colored powder or silly string for the reveal. Wear white clothes and give the cans or guns to every guest. Whichever color hits you more is the gender of the baby! Make sure to have more blue or pink colors of course.
Make your own or buy some scratch-off cards. Mail them off to those who couldn’t come to your party. All they have to do is scratch the card to find out if it’s a boy or girl!
